Craig Hamilton - Bassmint Featured Artist

Craig Hamilton began djing over 9 years ago, way back when he was still at school begging his dad for a set of turntables, eventually & thankfully his dad gave in & he was well on his way -- developing a love for music from an early age & working his way through many different styles along the way. This eventually earned Craig gigs at almost every major venue in Glasgow as well as appearances at Bar Ten & Gazelle where he held down a monthly residency playing right across the board from deep house to disco to jackin house, nu jazz & down tempo. Plus many gigs in Edinburgh for pins & needles & U-Freak, as well as playing outdoor parties, beaches, basements, flats & crazy barns.

After attending a music promotion course in 2001, craig decided to try promoting his own nights around glasgow, The night chi-town baby is run monthly by 3 friends Craig, Chris & Stef who share a passion for the music with a focus on putting on the best guests with an exclusive crowd each time.

In 2002, Craig began hosting one of the most popular house shows on Monday nights on Glasgow-based radio "Magnetic" for over 4 years, which saw Craig become more involved in the scene, reaching 250,000 listeners workdwide via live & archived streams.

It was in late 2005 that he decided to put something back into the ever-growing house scene by taking the plunge into the studio armed with a copy of Ableton Live & Reason, having been heavily influenced by artists such as Inland Knights, Littlemen, Bryan Jones, Jason Hodges & Matt Shrewd to name but a few. Also seeking advice from various big names within the scene on a regular basis, this led to his debut track "yo dj" being included on Bryan Jones' compilation cd. 2006 is already looking to be a good year with forthcoming releases on Chicago-based Control Recordings, Greenhouse, Bassmint, Detroit's Kolour Imprint & now Irish-based Yakuza.
