SoulJay - Bassmint Featured Artist

James SoulJay AKA Jimi Gray is a dj/producer specialising in deep funky underground house music. Growing up in London, he was inspired by a variety of sounds around him. This ranged from rhythm and blues to soul, jazz, funk, rock, new wave, disco and ultimately, house. From the age of 16 when he bought his first pair of turntables he became immersed in the raw sound of dance music through buying records, and hearing djs in clubs and on pirate radio. A desire to get involved in production soon followed and so initial dabbling on basic samplers and softwares moved on to better ones, courses in production and work in various recording studios, dealing with all genres of music. This experience continues to influence his productions today as he concentrates on djing and his own productions.

Currently, Jimi Gray has forthcoming releases on Revolutionary Music, Uni.form, Bassmint, Photo, Trendy Mullet and Flat Pack Traxx. Most recently playing at 'soda bar', 'bar soho', 'timbuktu', 'dojo lounge', 'the tube' in Bristol, 'snafu' in Aberdeen, 'beduin' in London and 'the safe house' in Chicago.
